Coban Rondo Waterfall is one of the ecotourism held in Malang. It is about 32 km away to the West from Malang, 12 Km from Batu City, precisely in the Pandesari Village, Pujon District. The height waterfall is 60 meters. Coban Rondo Waterfall is in production forests with an area of about 90 acres west of the city of Malang section at an altitude of 1200 m above sea level.

In the vicinity of Coban Rondo waterfall, filled with pine trees and pine mountains, making the atmosphere at these attractions seemed cool. You not only see the waterfall but you also can see the panoramic beauty of Batu city, various plants and various animals.

Legend of Coban Rondo Waterfall

Coban means waterfall in Javanese word. And Rondo means widow.There is a legend about the origin of the name of this waterfall.

The story begins when the pair of lovers who had just married. The wife named Dewi Anjarwati originating from Gunung Kawi. And her husband named Raden Baron Kusuma from Mount Anjasmoro.

When a marriage has reached 36 days (Selapan), Dewi Anjarwati invites her husband to visit Mount Anjasmoro, her husband's place of origin. Dewi Anjarwati's parents forbid them to leave because it is still Selapan (In Javanese culture, parents forbade bridal couples to go away from home at the age of marriage). However, Dewi Anjarwati and her husband still insisted to go.

On the way, they were surprised by the presence of unknown Joko Lelono origins. Joko Lelono captivated by the beauty of Dewi Anjarwati and tried to capture her.

Finally, a fight between Raden Kusuma with Joko Lelono Baron can not be avoided. To the accompanying Punokawan, Raden Baron ordered that Dewi Anjarwati hidden in places that exist waterfall (Coban). The fight went on until finally Raden Baron and Joko Lelono equally dead.
Thus, Dewi Anjarwati become widowed or in the Java language that is Rondo. From that moment, the waterfall where the Dewi Anjarwati waiting for her husband called Coban Rondo. That said, the big rock under the waterfall is the seat of the princess.
